A corporate identity is the overall image of a corporation or firm or business in the minds of diverse publics, such as customers and investors and employees. Corporate identity helps organizations to answer questions like “who are we?” and “where are we going?”

Corporate identity is often viewed as being composed of three parts:

  • Corporate design (logos, uniforms, corporate colours etc.)
  • Corporate communication (advertising, public relations, information, etc.)
  • Corporate behaviour (internal values, norms, etc.)

A logo is not your brand, nor is it your identity. Logo design, identity design and branding all have different roles that together, form a perceived image for a business or product.

  • What is identity? – The visual aspects that form part of the overall brand.
